Our Services

Allergy Testing

Hamzavi Dermatology provides painless testing to check for skin allergies caused by occupational conditions, jewelry, medications and cosmetics. Our clinicians have a great deal of experience in interpreting these tests and providing recommendations for the care of our patients.

Cosmetic Services

Microdermabrasion - The DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing System precisely removes dead skin cells, layer by layer, until fresh, new cells appear mimicking younger skin, which naturally exfoliates every 15-20 days.

Laser Therapies

Hamzavi Dermatology has a large collection of lasers used to treat warts, port wine stains, excess hair, Nevus of Ota, hidradenitis suppurativa, and acne. Laser therapy is also offered for cosmetic procedures at our clinic.

The laser session may last a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. For hair removal, more than one treatment is required to disable hair follicles that enter a subsequent growth phase. The laser treatment itself can cause a slight tingling sensation. Most clients tolerate the procedure well. Topical anesthesia is an option for the areas of the body that might be more sensitive than others.

Mole Mapping and Dermoscopy

Mole mapping is the careful evaluation of every visible mole and is done with the expert eyes of our clinicians. This process is supplemented by a technology called dermoscopy, which magnifies the mole using lenses and polarized light. These procedures provide our patients with the most up-to-date care in protecting against skin cancer.

Pediatric Dermatology

The field of Pediatric Dermatology covers the care of diseases that predominantly affect children from birth through the teenage years. These diseases include warts, acne, hemangiomas, molluscum contagiosum, mole checks and a variety of other conditions. Our physicians are adept at helping children deal with the anxiety of doctor visits and procedures while keeping the parents well-informed about treatment options. We employ board-certified pediatric dermatologists, and every member of our staff is comfortable assisting children with their needs.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT is a light-based treatment for the precancerous and sun-damaged conditions of the face and scalp. It involves the application of medication on the skin that makes the precancerous spots sensitive to light. A specially designed light is then used to remove the precancerous growth and improves the appearance of sun-damaged skin.

Phototherapy is the use of ultraviolet light to selectively target the immune and pigment systems of the skin. It uses a combination of light, which creates a very low risk of skin cancer, while providing results that are comparable to medications with harsher side effects. It is effective for moderate to severe cases of psoriasis, vitiligo and atopic dermatitis.

Skin Cancer – Screening and Treatment

Treatment of skin cancer varies according to the location, size, aggressiveness of the cancer and the patient's general health. In most cases, the dermatologist biopsies a small piece of the abnormal growth for an evaluation to determine whether or not it is malignant. Malignant tumors may require additional treatment.

Skin cancer can develop anywhere on the skin, so act vigilantly to prevent its growth. Ask someone for help when checking your skin, especially in places difficult to see. Seek treatment if you notice a mole that looks different from others, changes, enlarges, itches or bleeds - even if it is small.

Dermatological surgery includes a wide variety of methods to remove or modify skin tissue for health and cosmetic reasons. Our methods provide high-quality, cost-effective skin surgery, including scalpel, laser, chemical and cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen), and injection of filler substances, among others.

Mohs surgery is used to treat more aggressive skin cancers in particular body sites. This technique is offered by our experienced and highly qualified dermatologists at Hamzavi Dermatology.
